Pediatric Speech-Language Therapy

If your child struggles to communicate using either words or signs, has difficulty comprehending language and/or has trouble saying certain sounds or words, they may benefit from Speech-Language Therapy. A speech-language screening or evaluation can provide you with some answers and guidance. After a thorough evaluation, Monica will develop a treatment plan with specific strategies to help you support your child to communicate more effectively. Monica provides speech therapy that is creative and tailored especially to your child’s needs to help them access communication and enhance their quality of life.

Infant and Toddler Feeding and Swallowing Therapy

Many infants and toddlers experience challenges with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, and transitioning to solid foods. If your child is struggling with feeding at any stage, feeding therapy can provide strategies for your child to further develop their skills to become more successful. This may be especially true with infants and toddlers that have spent time in the hospital and experienced negative or intense medical situations. Even babies and toddlers that have been or are currently dependent on feeding tubes or have oral aversions can make progress in a safe and positive atmosphere. Monica provides gentle infant and toddler feeding therapy for children and families that need support on their journey with food. If you are frustrated during mealtimes or feedings, please consider an evaluation. Monica will discuss options and approaches with you that fit into your lifestyle. If you have more questions about the role of a Speech-Language Pathologist and feeding, please feel free to click on this link.

Infant Massage Education

Monica is a Certified Educator of Infant Massage (CEIM) through Infant Massage USA. Through infant massage, parents can further their bond with their child and learn techniques to help soothe and relax. Babies with tummy troubles, babies who have colic, and most other babies can benefit from infant massage provided by their parents. What better way to enhance your interaction with your baby than through guided loving touches? The specific massage strokes that are presented can be modified as your child grows! This is typically a 3-4-session class and can be provided individually or in a group. If you are interested in a private session, please contact Monica directly. If you would like to join a group, please sign-up for a class at the San Diego Breastfeeding Center.
